Definite:
- Definite CJD associated with a known risk factor for iatrogenic disease (see list)
Probable:
- Progressive cerebellar syndrome in recipients of (growth) hormones extracted from human pituitary glands
- Probable CJD associated with a known risk factor for iatrogenic disease (see list)
Risk factors for iatrogenic CJD:
- Treatment with (growth) hormones extracted from human pituitary glands, or after dura mater transplantation
- Corneal transplantation in cases were the donor was diagnosed with definite or probable prion disease
- Neurosurgical instruments that were previously used in patients with definite or probable prion disease
