The diagnostic options for human prion diseases improved considerably during last 20 years. The brain imaging (magnetic resonance imaging, MRI) became an important test in addition to cerebrospinal fluid parameters (biomarkers). Other new tests were developed to allow safe diagnosis in the cerebrospinal fluid. Here we inform about new developments.
